Medical and technical molder Balda C. Brewer has consolidated its mold making in Oceanside, Calif. while continuing with mold maintenance and repair work in nearby the nearby California cities of Anaheim, Irvine and Ontario.
"We transferred some high-speed equipment from the Ontario milling center, and we transferred two persons with mold-making talent" to work under Dean Gaffney's direction in Oceanside, said CEO Chuck Brewer III.
Five individuals in Anaheim, three in Ontario and four in Irvine continue to maintain and repair molds.
The Oceanside site has 34 injection molding presses while the Anaheim-Ontario-Irvine operations have 100, up from 85 a year ago.
Publicly traded parent firm Balda AG of Bad Oeynhausen, Germany, acquired Anaheim-based C. Brewer Co. and Oceanside-based HK Plastics Engineering Inc. in December 2012 and has combined the operations as Balda C. Brewer. Chuck Brewer is responsible for expanding and developing the U.S. business.
HK Plastics built the 55,000-square-foot Oceanside molding and mold-making facility in 2006, at that time including six mold makers.
For the six months ended Dec. 31, Balda AG reported profit of 1.1 million euros ($1.5 million) on sales of 34.9 million euros ($48 million).
Balda C. Brewer, reporting as the consolidated Balda America segment, had first-half sales of 20.1 million euros ($27.7 million) with operating profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization of 1.2 million euros ($1.7 million).
Brewer's organization employed 501 as of Sept. 30 and reports to Oliver Oechsle, chief operating officer of Balda AG. |
