Ube Machinery Inc. is now building new large-tonnage Servomax injection presses, with full servo-hydraulics, at its facility in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Ube Servomax machines use only servo motor-driven gear pumps to produce a true monolith hydraulic package with closed-loop pressure control on all axes of motion. The design uses a single manifold and four servo-motors.
Ube’s U.S. plant comes in clamping forces of 1,000, 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 tons.
Ube officials said that design gives 70 percent energy savings over traditional hydraulic machines and superior repeatability. The 1,000-ton Servomax runs on a four-second dry cycle. Another feature: A motor that gives much faster screw rotating, in revolutions per minute.
Ube also offers all-electric large-tonnage machines.
David Bernardi, senior sales and marketing manager, said the fully servo-hydraulic Servomax presses offer another energy-efficient choice for large-tonnage molders.
“This was a clean sheet design of the servo-hydraulics. This is all brand new,” Bernardi said in an interview at Ube in Michigan. “We improved the performance of the machine and simultaneously saved energy.”
