Bekum Maschinenfabriken GmbH, the maker of blow molding machines founded in Berlin in 1959, is moving its Berlin production to its other plant, in Traismauer, Austria.
A news release posted on Bekum’s website terms the move a “realignment.”
“In order to realize an increase in productivity, the relocation of the production line from Berlin to Traismauer along with a restructuring of the Berlin facility is necessary,” company officials said in a news release dated Sept. 22 and posted on Bekum’s website.
According to the news release, the streamlining move will strengthen the Berlin headquarters while centralizing production in Austria.
“We are confident that the intended restructuring and the realignment will form the basis for an excellent market positioning,” said Bekum founder Gottfried Mehnert and Andreas Kandt, the managing director, in a joint statement.
They were not available for immediate comment for this story.
The restructuring move does not affect Bekum America Corp., the company’s U.S. operation, or the plant in Austria, the company said.
Bekum said the restructuring will be “realized in the framework of a self-administration,” to be completed by the spring of 2015.
The news release said: “This framework allows the management to run the reorganization and restructuring process on its own, supervised by an advocate and in conjunction with the firm of hww Unternehmensberater GmbH. Therefore, Dr. Christoph Schulte-Kaubrügger (White & Case LLP) from district court Charlottenburg has been appointed as the preliminary advocate.” |
