The Estádio Nacional de Brasília is one of the World Cup venues that will feature new nylon 6 seats.
Safety at the 2014 World Cup finals is uppermost in people’s minds after an accident last month in which two people died when a crane collapsed at the São Paulo stadium which is due to host the opening ceremony.
The plastic seating at major football venues include flame retardants to reduce the risk of a fire spreading, and that will be the case at Brazil’s stadiums next year. Italian engineering plastics supplier RadiciGroup said six of the 12 stadiums have seating made of its flame retardant Radiflam range of nylon 6 materials.
The Radiflam seats, and related components such as armrests, bolts and supports, are fitted at these stadiums: Estádio Mineirão (Belo Horizonte), Estádio Nacional de Brasília (Brasília), Arena Fonte Nova (Salvador), Estádio Beira-Rio (Porto Alegre), Estádio das Dunas (Natal), Arena Corinthians (São Paulo).
